Sawtelle Gutter Solutionists
Gutters for Sawtelle’s apartments, condos and old bungalows
Sawtelle was its own town until Los Angeles annexed it in 1922, and the streets still show the layers. A few early bungalows still hold on along the side streets, apartment buildings went up north of Missouri Avenue in the 1940s, and later decades filled in with stucco walk-ups and condo buildings. In ZIP 90025 the median home was built in 1975 and only about 10 percent of housing units are detached houses. That means long runs on two- and three-story buildings, low-slope roofs, and downspouts that empty into carports, walkways and side yards shared with the building next door.
The trees here are bigger than the lots suggest. StreetsLA’s 2020 to 2021 inventory for the West Los Angeles Sawtelle council area lists London plane, African fern pine, jacaranda, southern magnolia and Indian laurel fig as the most common street trees. Plane leaves mat flat over a downspout opening, fern pine drops small fruit and needle-like leaves all year, and ficus berries turn sticky in a wet trough. Near the coast the rain is light, with NOAA’s Santa Monica Airport station averaging 13.45 inches a year, but about 11 of those inches fall between December and March, so a clog in January shows up fast as overflow on a stair or a parking area. A pre-season cleaning handles most of it.
The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Los Angeles is owned by Robinson O’Brien-Bours. Our Solutionists work the blocks around Sawtelle Japantown, Stoner Recreation Center and Nora Sterry Elementary, and we form seamless gutters on-site to fit long apartment eaves in one piece. We fix leaking seams, replace soft fascia boards, and add BroGuard micro-mesh under plane trees and ficus. Licensed, bonded and insured under California contractor license 1140218.

What Los Angeles Homeowners Say
“I hired The Brothers That Just Do Gutters to install some gutters above my driveway. The installer was Emiliano. He did an amazing job, didn’t take too much time, was very professional, and charged a fair price. I would highly recommend this company and installer to anyone.”
Posted on Google“Brothers Gutters were amazing. Their quoting and invoicing system was super easy to work with. Hannah and Rhys who did the back end and quote were super responsive. They gave us a really fair price and got the job done a few days later. Really top quality service and work!!”
Posted on Google“We had been looking for someone to install our gutters for quite some time and thought a handyman would be less expensive and more reliable. Were we wrong…”

Yes, and they make up a big share of our Sawtelle work. Only about one in ten homes in 90025 is a detached house, so most roofs we service are on two- and three-story buildings with long runs and several downspouts. We quote the whole building in writing and can set it on a twice-a-year schedule.
In Sawtelle it is usually London plane leaves, the most common street tree in the local inventory. They are large and they mat over a downspout opening like a lid. African fern pine adds small fruit and needles. We clear and flush every outlet, and BroGuard mesh keeps the leaves on top where wind and rain carry them off.
Book the first one for October or early November, once the plane trees have started dropping but before the December rain. A second visit in spring catches late leaves, jacaranda bloom and magnolia drop. Buildings under several large trees may need a third cleaning or BroGuard mesh.
Usually, yes. When a building has a carport or tuck-under parking, old downspouts often empty right where people park and walk. When we install seamless gutters in Sawtelle we move the outlets and add extensions or routing so the water heads to a drain or planter instead of across the slab and under car tires.
All of Sawtelle in 90025, from Sawtelle Boulevard and Corinth Avenue to Stoner Avenue, Armacost Avenue, Missouri and Mississippi Avenues and the blocks between Santa Monica and Olympic Boulevards. Houses, condos and apartment buildings all get a free written estimate. Phone (213) 205-6598 or use the online booking form.
