West Los Angeles Gutter Solutionists
Gutters for West LA’s postwar homes and tree-lined blocks
East of the 405, West Los Angeles is more single-family than people expect. In ZIP 90064 about half of all housing units are detached houses, and the median home was built in 1964. Westwood Gardens, between Overland and Midvale Avenues south of Ayres Avenue, was laid out in five tracts in 1944, and its sidewalks still carry 1945 stamps. On houses that age, gutters have often been patched more than once, and leaking joints and tired hangers are common finds. North of Pico, the streets off Westwood Boulevard and Overland Avenue mix older homes with newer two-story rebuilds and small apartment buildings, each with its own roofline and drainage quirks.
The street trees here drop some of the most stubborn debris on the Westside. StreetsLA’s 2023 inventory for the Westside council area counted 10,457 street trees, and the most common was the horsetail tree, followed by London plane, sweetgum, jacaranda and southern magnolia. Horsetail tree needles knit into a dense mat that holds water, and sweetgum’s spiky seed balls lodge in downspout openings. The nearest NOAA station, at UCLA, averages 17.73 inches a year, with 4.73 inches in a normal February, and almost all of it comes between December and March. A fall cleaning before that stretch clears most of the risk.
The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Los Angeles is owned by Robinson O’Brien-Bours, and our Solutionists work the blocks around the old Westside Pavilion, Westwood Gardens and the side streets between Olympic and Pico. We form seamless gutters on-site to the exact length of each eave, repair leaks and loose hangers, add BroGuard micro-mesh under horsetail trees and sweetgums, and can tie downspouts into underground drainage so water clears the foundation. California contractor license 1140218; licensed, bonded and insured.

Most likely horsetail tree, the most common street tree in StreetsLA’s Westside inventory. It is not a pine, but it drops fine, needle-like branchlets and small cones that knit into a wet mat inside a gutter. We clear it by hand, flush every downspout, and BroGuard micro-mesh is fine enough to keep it out.
If they are patched sectional gutters with leaking joints, replacement usually makes sense. Westwood Gardens homes date to the mid-1940s, and a seamless run formed on-site covers each eave in one piece with no joints to fail. If the gutters are sound, a repair and reseal may be enough. Your free written estimate will lay out both options.
They do. Sweetgum is one of the most common street trees in West Los Angeles, and its spiky seed balls roll down the trough and wedge in the downspout opening, then leaves pile up behind them. We clear and flush outlets during every cleaning, and BroGuard mesh keeps the seed balls on top of the gutter.
Twice a year works for most homes here: October or November before the rain, and again in spring once the last leaves are down. Houses under horsetail trees or sweetgums may need a third cleaning, or BroGuard mesh to stretch the time between visits. With February averaging close to five inches at UCLA, the fall visit matters most.
Yes. We work all of West Los Angeles east of the 405, from the streets off Westwood Boulevard and Overland Avenue south of Santa Monica Boulevard down through the blocks between Olympic and Pico and into Westwood Gardens. Houses and small apartment buildings get the same free written estimate. Reach us at (213) 205-6598 or book a time online.
